Water Rail in Flight across ditch Water Rail (Rallus aquaticus) In flight across frozen ditch. Fitting a niche, feeding in a ciruit around a little opening in a ditch whilst all water bodies are frozen for other birds in harsh winters. The sounds emited by the Water rail are described, grunts followed by a high-pitched piglet-like squeal and ending in more grunts.
