Black headed Gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) swimming. First winter plumage. The plumage of gulls is a difficult one to follow and learn. The plumage takes a couple of seasons to develop into the adult plumage and full maturity. Until then each season is different with one winter different to the next, same with summer plumage's. In this image it is similar to the non breeding plumage of the adult.
