Water Rail (Rallus aquaticus) when stopping for a break from feeding seems to enter trance like state, remaning still as if pondering next move. In a niche, feeding in a ciruit around a little opening in a ditch whilst all water bodies are frozen for other birds in harsh winters. The sounds emited by the Water rail are described, grunts followed by a high-pitched piglet-like squeal and ending in more grunts.
