Water Rail (Rallus aquaticus) Having been surprised and slipping off the reed after being panicked by another bird, whilst feeding in a ciruit around a little opening in a ditch as all water bodies are frozen for other birds in harsh winters. The sounds emited by the Water rail are described, grunts followed by a high-pitched piglet-like squeal and ending in more grunts.
