European Shag (Phalacrocorax aristotelis) Sitting on nest, duning the mid day sun. A particularly hot day with little wind. There has been a few days of heat and calm weather due to a high pressure zone (weather). The birds sit on the nests for hours at a time, and with their dark plummage gets very hot, adding to this the brightness of the surroundings.
